security alarm

I'm new to the forum so please don't get mad if this is something that's already been covered, but I've not been able to find out exactly what i needed to know.

Last night while i was helping a friend work on his s-10, when i walked past my 92 pa, the alarm went off. The only time it's gone off before-not surprisingly-is when someone has been trying to get in it. Needless to say, I about dropped a brick. I was the only one that was near it, and when I walked by, was about 6 feet away. Later on that night, it did it again, but that time there wasn't anyone outside at all.

Is this something I should be concerned about? I don't know if there's a timer on the alarm, but if not, I'd hate to have it go off and not know it to shut it off and end up with a dead battery. I've been doing some wiring under the dash, putting in LED's and such, and have been piggybacking off of the fuse panel for power via fuse jumpers, but the circuits I've used weren't related to the alarm-at least going by the diagram on the panel cover-

Also, I'm going to replace my pcv valve soon and wonder if anyone has any tips or suggestions.

From what I've read on other topics, you guys really know your stuff, so I'm not too worried about being left in the dark. Thanks for your help -Eric
