6 Cylinder Engine?

I know I don't want a 4 cyl. But I'm lookin at a Nissan with 6 cyl, and would like to know the difference between a 6 and an 8. I was told I'd prefer the 8. But if I like the 6 okay, I'll go ahead and look into the car a little more.

Well CaptainObvious, the difference between 4, 6, and 8 cylinders greatly depends on the car. There are some 4 cylinders that are much more powerful than some 8 cylinders. Since you're looking at a Nissan (what kind?) and they don't make an 8 cylinder car, you have no choice but the 6 or 4. Generally speaking the more cylinders you have the more power you have, but when you get into turbocharging or supercharging, that all changes. Your question is extremely vague.

There are no eight-cylinder Nissan cars in America, but there are some in Japan. There are also eight-cylinder Nissan trucks and SUVs. He also may be referring to the Infiniti brand. Anyways, Nissan's main V6 engine in the last fifteen years, the VQ30DE/VQ35DE, has been an award-winning motor that has garnered much praise for its roles in the Maxima family sedan and 350Z sports car. It doesn't offer the raw power or exhiliration of a V8, but it's easier on gas and can be found in cheaper cars than Infinitis.

You don't need a V8 engine unless it's a truck. V6 is sufficient enough for most driving style, and has ample power.

this thread has drowned itself in stereotypes. the number of cylinders in a car should not be one of the main reasons whether you buy it or not. u didnt say if you wanted a truck to tow your boat or a roadster to get the ladies. ugh...i dunno man...im staying out of this one. good luck with buying your new vehicle
