not exactly sure if i should go for it

I know this has been asked before in various ways. I'm not asking for you gys to make my mind for me or anything, just looking for advice.

I really want to turbo the 240, ive found the BoostDesigns kit to be pretty decent.

What I'm asking is is should I go for the stage 1 or stage 2. I will be leaving the block and most of the internals stock as I will not have a ton of money to spend.

stage 1 is the regular turbo setup while stage 2 has fuel upgrade and i believe 9:1 compression pistons.

Now my real concern is if my engine and transmission will be able to handle the boost. I have a 93 coupe with a lil over 123,000 miles on it. I've had it looked at and everything is said to be fine, but that wasnt checked out to be ok for a turbo.

Would you think turboing the car would be feasible and still be reliable or is that asking too much. I dont want to change from auto to 5 speed either because city driving and traffic is a hassle sometimes.

So do you think doing the turbo is too much to ask, and would i be able to expect it to be under 6 grand with labor included or am i out of my mind. if im out of my mind ill just leave the 240 for a daily and get another car to toy with.

help will be greatly appreciated, sorry for a reappearing topic, I hate it too, but I was just wondering reliability wise. Also sorry if alot of my questions and what not are all over the place, I'm niot really thinking right as of now, Illinois is scaring me.

If you're not willing to deal with the down sides of a manual, you don't deserve more power.

He's got a point man. I used to love auto cuz it was so much easier to drive, but now that I know how to drive MANUAL its so much better and fun to drive than boring ass auto.

Re: not exactly sure if i should go for it

Ya, well manual is out of the question, its a bitch in the city. Downshifting and shifting every 2 seconds to move 2 feet for 2 hours isnt fun. If I got a manual it would be another car.

Re: not exactly sure if i should go for it

So like lets say manual in a little city like Los Angeles is a piece of cake huh? And if u drove enough in manual u would know that ur 1st gear should be able to go up to at least 15. And unless ur going faster than 15mph in 2 feet, I would say go with AUTO.

P.S. And if u got another car in manual u wouldn't have to shift every 2 feet either?? HHMMM...

Re: not exactly sure if i should go for it

No, if I got another car it would be used strictly as a toy. I'm sorry, but to each his own, thats just fine and dandy if you dont like auto, but I dont have a problem with it, and I wouldnt spend money on changing it now, I would do that later down the road. My preference in either standard or auto really doesnt have to do with me asking if the turbo with as many miles I have on my car.

Re: not exactly sure if i should go for it

you should be ok if you have no leaks ie compression.. but it would really suck if the car you put it on was auto.. i'd say dont even bother cause i don't see the point of having a 2.4L turbo AUTO car.. the gear ratios might not even work with the whole setup.. it may but it'd be a bumpy ride..unless you're aiming for liuke 700hp then don't bother.. if you really want the turbo then don't go more than stage 1. the tranny may not be able to handle more than that..

Re: not exactly sure if i should go for it

i think you just have loads of money and is not quite sure how to spend it. In my opinion, i think you'll regret if you spent that much money on a auto 240... that you really don't care for... ( i mean you use it for a daily commuter and when it comes to a desireable car w/ stick you want something else)

save it for something else... get your other 'dream' car.

Re: not exactly sure if i should go for it

ya, all i pretty much want is stage 1 for now, I just wasnt sure about needing a fuel system, thats why i thought i mite need stage 2. if this can all be done for around 4-5 grand than im gonna go for it, if not theres other things I'll do with the car. This is my dream car tho, so I want to keep it, just making sure i wasnt going to blow the engine.

Re: not exactly sure if i should go for it

If you are always crawling in traffic why do you need more power? And if your dream car is an automatic sports car, it's really, really sad.

Re: not exactly sure if i should go for it

not so much for domestic v8s but an auto 4banger?? turbo?? i agree with logik, thats pretty sad. there's quite the difference in driving an auto turbo and 5 speed turbo.. its gonna throw your engine around..

That's not an answer to a question, that's a smart-ass remark. I don't believe the issue is whether or not he has an auto or a manual, the issue is about more power . Besides that, it's not like he asked it in a jerk-faced way. He was curious. It's a wonder people actually come to this forum to ask questions more than once, what with asshole members shooting things down right off the bat. You could have at least had the tact to say something in a more presentable manner. So...if you're done giving your ego a nice handjob, maybe someone who is actually going to contribute to this guys query can post:

If you want to add a litttle power to your car, you can always go the route of some performance headers with a good exhaust system, as well as an intake. It's not a turbo kit, but it can't hurt.

See logik, that was pretty easy, now wasn't it? I didn't have to make fun of his car or anything.
