question about tires

I have a 94 LX Tbird and currently have P215/70R15 tires on it. I know a person who is selling tires off of their Mercedes-Benz and they are 215/45R17. I was wondering if they would be ok on my tbird. Is there anything else I need in order to know if the tires will fit and be safe on my car?

New wheels of course.
The 215/70/15's are about 26.85" tall and the 215/45/17's are 24.62" tall. This will result in a larger gap between the tire and the fender. Also, the speedmeter will read about 9.07% higher than actualy speed.

Re: question about tires

Not to mention the fact that 17" tires won't fit on your 15" rims.

This person is selling the wheels and tires together. The tires look as if they have 90 - 95% of the original tire tread left. The tires are Kumho Ecsta 711's. Anything else I should be made aware of?

Do you have a use for the wheels or are you planning to sell them?

I was thinking that I would put both the wheels and the tires on my car.

Re: question about tires

i dunno if they would fit. The Thunderbird has a stupid/rare/annoying bolt pattern. 5x4.25. They might not fit.

The size of stock wheels are 15"x6.5" with an offset of 39mm.
The bolt hole pattern is 5"x4.25" (5x108mm).
Good luck.
