97 sunfire GT 2.4L Ignition control module

Have a 97 Sunfire Gt 2.4L. Driving along and the car shuts off and all dash lights come on. No Check Engine light so I dont think there is a trouble code to check. Can wait 10-15min and car restarts. Tried to start it this morning and it wouldnt start. Only turn over til it flooded itself. All dash lites again came on and speedometer and tach were jumpin all over the place. Was told problem probaly in Ignition Control Module but no way to test and trying to get responses here before I spend $200.00 if thats not the problem. Any help appreciated

I doubt its your ignition control module. I would test your fuel pressure and check for a spark before just replacing parts without know for sure. Good Luck and welcome to AF.

My ignition control module on my cavalier was tested four times, and each read was ok. Finally as as a last resort, I purchased on for $15 at a nearby junkyard ($115 new). It was my prob. after all. So testing obviusly means SHIT!

You are having similiar symptoms I had w/ a GM vehicle, in the long run it turned out to the ECM.

Good luck!
