How to make a 93 cl faster for cheap?

Hi everyone!
I just bought a vw golf (93 cl), and I was wondering if any one knows of any cheap mods for a 1.8? Apparently it's a rare model as I can't find alot of stuff for it on the Internet!
My previous cars were a 95 accord EXR(2.2 vtec), and a 90 accord EX(2.2), both manual, and the Golf feels so underpowered, even though it's a much lighter car!
I used to leave civics behind in my dust before, lol, but now I can't even keep up with a stock Si! ):
It would be really great if you guys could give me some suggestions!
Thanks alot

Can't get much slower than the 1.8 Golf III! Not in watercooled anyway.

I'm not very familiar with the engine, as I have the 2.0, but there might be the usual bolt-ons .. this would bump your power marginally, make it feel a little more peppy. Forced Induction would be the only way to get large gains though, not sure whats availible for that old 8v.

Question turbo

Thanks tr0ike!
Hopefully in a few days, I'm going to put in an air intake and hopefully that would give me a bit more power, or at least make the car sound better!
Does any one know if the turbo could be added to a stock 1.8 mkIII ?

1.8!
