Remote Key issues

Hi - I have a RR 97 HSE bought used a few months ago. I just started to have intermitted locking and unlocking troubles, it is like the remote signal is not reaching the car's internal sensor. I HAVE replaced the two batteries in the remote, so I can't imagine that to be the issue- to me it seems that the remote seems to work better from behind the car, go figure- Can anyone advise- I don't know what to do?
