'05 Xterra

Hey guys.

I just found this site. What a treasure of good information. I just took delivery of my new Black '05 with a 6 speed. While I'm not crazy about the interior/exterior styling, I'm slowly starting to warm up to it. My last car was a 2001 Pathfinder with the 240hp 3.5 V6/auto. I really enjoyed the car and I put 70,000 miles on it in a little less than 5 years. I always regreted not getting the 5 speed manual when I bought it. It was one of the best cars I've ever had. I kept it almost 5 years, a personal best for me! It was a fun driver and I never had a single maintenance problem except I did have to replace the front brake rotars at 17,000mi.

My new ride.

I took delivery of my Xterra S about 10 days ago with 9 mi on the odotometer and I've driven about 800 miles since. Did I say performance? This car is a gas to drive. I'm addicted to the great sound of the engine. What a incredibly perfect snarl from under the hood as you slide throught tht gears between 3000 and 4000RPM. It reminds me of a souped up hot rod from the 30's. I can't wait to add an aftermarket exhaust as soon as they are available. Anyone know of a good source? Is there a radio in this car?

Solid. I don't know if it's just because its a new car or if it's built stronger but it feels and sounds a lot tighter than my Pathfinder and I really thought my Pathfinder was very, very solid.

I took it out on the interstate and I was impressed. At 80mph, less air noise than my Pathy and in 6th gear, it's eerily quiet! The jury is still out on the ride quality at interstate speeds but I didn't notice, in my short drive of less than 10 miles, that the ride was any harsher than my Pathfinder.

I was unable to drive a 6speed Xterra before I bought this one but I drove the Frontier with a 6speed and I liked it. So the dealer was able to locate this one for me and I have to say, so far it has exceeded my expectations.

Re: '05 Xterra

Welcome aboard!!! I really like the ride of the 05 frontier, but it was about $200 more per month than the 04 xterra with the incentives, so I opted for the 04 rather than waiting for an 05. But this is my second X i really regretted getting rid of my 01 last year, so i got another one. I know you will grow to be very fond of your truck as everyone here is!!

Nissan has been making great fully boxed frames for years. only now are the other manufactures following. NOTE FOLLOWING.
