cr-vtec or gsr
allright should i go cr-vtec in a 1995 civic hatch or gsr motor. I am definitely going to be adding forced induction so which would be better to do? the cr-vtec is a direct bolt in right? the prices are about the same but the cr-vtec is oblviously more complicated isn't it? what are the differences and which is better for a turbo?

Yes they will both bolt right in fine but the GSR(10.0:1) would be cheaper, easier to do, and better for turbo because it has a lower compression than the CRV(11.1:1) which is better for turbo. So i would say go with the GSR motor!
Just Remember that lower compression is better for turbo.

Not only would the GSR motor be more expensive by atleast a grand but the B20 CR is not 11:1, the B20B had a CR of 9 something and a Z a bit a more.

say i got a b18c1 swapped into my 5th gen. slapped on a drag gen 3 turbo. what boost would i have to run SAFELY on stock internals? i plan to upgrade so i can boost higher, but money = none now. 8-9 psi? and how would i regulate this boost. say if i wanted 10psi one minute... and 20psi the next?

ok i'm not a turbo genious or anything, but i hear ppl talk about all this insane boost... 20psi? Is that for real? I mean, look at it this way - lets say your car's pushin 160 horses NA... well, normal atmospheric pressure at sealevel is 14.7, so with 20 psi boost, you're talking 34.7 psi, which is *pulling out the calculator* about a 136% power increase. Now, granted that turbos are not perfectly efficient, and therefor that's not a free power increase, lets knock it down to 125% power increase. Suddenly your 160 hp is now pushing with 360 horses
? I dunno, but i don't think stock internals on a civic can take that.... am i wrong? like I said I'm no expert, but I was under the impression that typical boost provided by a turbo was around 6-10 psi. Someone correct me if I'm wrong

ok im sorry...i guess i was thinkin of another motor...my bad...anyways....the CRV(B20B) has a CR of 8.8:1. So i guess that would overall be better than the GSR.

How much would having a cr-vtec engine built cost? Some people seem to think it's really cheap, others make it sound like it's a 5-6g job. And does anyone know the reliability of a thing like that? I want something that would be safe for a daily driver.

Just like any other engine, depends on how far you want to go with it. Get a B20 block, with a B16 head and ECU and GSR tranny and it'll cost you less than FULLY building a high performance CRVTEC setup.

I'm guessing around 2g for a regular crvtec setup, more for a built turbo ready version?

CRV or GSR
What i think is if your gonna get TURBO get the GSR motor becuz it has better COMP RATIO then the CRV due to after vtec swap you have HIGH COMP RATIO and i would know if you like TURBO .... GSR man ... ALL MOTOR is CRV/Vtec ..... i think in money wise they will be the same or CRV will be a little bit more so it what YOU like hahahah
