Just bought my 2005 Sport v6 4wd. Some switching 4wd ?
Ok, I finally did it, just bought my SE v6 4WD that I wanted. Everything has been perfect so far....
By the way, is it normal when you switch to 4wd, that there is a clunking sound? And, even after some stop and go traffic and some highway miles, I actually got a consistent 20.5 miles/gallon which I'm pretty impressed. I'll see if i can post some pics soon! |

I also get the clunking when putting it into 4WD. I believe it is the other wheels locking in. Unsure but I believe it is completely normal though. Congrats on the purchase. I have a 2003 SE V6 looking to upgrade it to a 2005 SE V8.

I never liked the 2003 4runner because of the dual-color plastics. Makes the car look darn cheap... |

I don't have the cladding on mine. There is a constant ticking that I have in mine that nobody can't seem to get rid of. It also effects the functioning of the engine as there is a lag in pickup. I will be going over the new one very carefully.

Make sure you're cruising when switching into 4, not on the gas. You get a big clunk while on the gas, and a very quiet click while cruising.

Does it make a difference when I switch it....I mean, does it hurt anything? |
