Identifying which transmission I have
I was doing research on changing an eagle 92 tsi fwd to an awd and I found this link. The writer said
Q: Which cars can use this setup? A: All '90-late 92 2.0L DSM turbos can perform this swap. There has been a lot of interest in this swap for 2G cars, and some new info has arisen. Unknown to us (since we all have 90-91 cars), when the trannies were redesigned in late '92 the FWD cars switched to a larger axle and different spline count than the AWD. This change makes the ELHS swap suddenly a lot more complicated. As a result, what is a simple swap for the 90-92 FWDs is very involved on late '92-99 cars and should not be undertaken by the casual mechanic. I am not a mechanic, is there anyway to tell if the transmission is the correct one to do the swap? http://www.wideopenwest.com/~ksmith3...shaftswap.html -Vincent |

I meant to say awd equal length half shafts.

Re: Identifying which transmission I have
go to vfaq.com and in the engine section there should be a "how to tell if my engine is a 6 bolt or 7 bolt" this isnt a garantee of your trans but it should be close. if your engine is a 6 bolt then your trans should be the older style that it will work
i would give you a link but vfaq is a pain in the ass to link to and you can find it. btw vfaq has a writeup about the eqaul length halfshafts mod too

Thanks for the information, the only problem is that the search option on vfaq is not working at the moment.
