coil springs

Its me again,
I was just wondering if replacing my stock coil springs with tundra coil springs would create any lift and will the tundra springs actually fit. What are the pros and cons of doing this?

Re: coil springs

Are you asking about coil over springs? I'll assume you are.

I don't know it they fit. If they will fit you coil over shocks they will probably provide some lift. The Tundra springs will have a higher spring rating because the Tundra is a heavier truck. When you install the Tundra springs on your shocks the assembled unloaded spring length will be the same as your Tacoma springs. Since you truck doesn't weigh as much as the Tundra the loaded length of the springs will be longer, that would give some lift.

Your ride will be much harsher, the shock may top out on rebound and eventually destroy your shocks.
Your front wheel alignment will be off and need to be realigned.

Re: coil springs

Looks like I may be wrong, depending on some of the comments in that post. At least my comments attracted some additional information.

I replaced my stock taco coilovers with TRD coilovers from another taco and i got about 1-1.5 inches of lift in the front and the ride is much better because of the progressive rate springs and bilstein shocks. I would go with the taco TRD shocks rather than tundra shocks. thats my two cents.
