install airbag

I am planning on buying a 92 eagle talon tsi. I would like to have airbags. Does anyone know if mitsubishi or any other company will install airbags into a car that didn't come with them? If you do please let me know, and if you are positive that you can't install them can you tell me why.

Re: install airbag

I dont think you can install them into a car that didnt have them in the first place becasue of the dash and the steering wheel. if you could I would assume it would cost quite alot of money.

Re: install airbag

ive never seen or heard of it being done. it would definately cost a lot since airbags costs about 800 apiece. 1 dash, 1 wheel, 1600 bucks plus install. and it definately means that your car would be considered totaled by the insurence if they ever went off. airbags suck anyway.

Re: install airbag

99.9% sure that isn't not possible because of everything needed to run the airbag system. the airbag system has many different components to it and it would be very hard to install all of them correctly without having it go off at any certain time. plus, the airbag systems are built into the computer so you would have to swap out your computer, bags, and probably 20 other IMPORTANT items, roughly.

Thanks for the information. I have been searching the internet for racing seat belts instead. I found street legal racing seat belts at
http://www.soloracer.com/harnschrothfaq.html

So I guess better belts are a good substitute.
