Rough idleing , any ideas?

Hey everyone, i got a 01' grand am se, has about 75k miles on it now, my RPMs at a complete stop are usually around 600(some days it stays at 1k, never goes down)..but ive noticed more recently that whenever im at a complete stop (i.e. stop light, stop sign, etc) my RPMs will make a quick drop to 500rpms, then kick back up,over and over, resulting in the car feeling like its 'kicking', and it'll repeatedly do that , but whenever the car is in motion, everything is fine, shifting is not a problem, also, my car is an automatic, incase that helps , any suggestions are greatly appreciated,

im getting a tune up tomorrow, figured it could use one, also heard that rough idleing can be sorta cause by not getting a tune up, so hopefully it'll help a little. Thanks in advance for anyones help

Frank

Yo, R, make it a firm practice now to put in a good injector cleaner about every 3-4 tank fulls, depending on if U short stop-starts city [go with 3 tanks] or if you long highway driver [go with 4 tanks].

For some reason, the injectors on the GA's just love to gunk up. Also, every so often, spray clean the throttle body air intake and butterfly out really well, as well as check your air filter about every 3-4K miles. Sometimes, lack of air forces the injector system to go rich, and that forces the injectors to overpump, which begins faster gunk-up rate, sigh.
