1992 Cherokee bounces all over the road

Recently I bought a 1992 Cherokee from some one I work with. Overall it is in great condition, the only problem is there appears to be something wrong with the suspension. If I drive over any bumps in the road the vehicle bounces/hops sideways. it is not the type of bounce when shocks are gone, it a stiff bouncing and feels very unstable in those conditions.

Any input would be greatly appriciated.

Did the person you bought it from do anything to the suuspension like bigger coil springs in the front, or a few more leaf springs in the rear? Larger tires I have found also tend to toss you around..

I noticed when I lifted my Jeep, I got tossed around more when I hit potholes/frost heaves etc cause I stiffened the suspension up...
