67 impala engine

I have a 67 impala with 283 engine in it. I will need to replace or rebuild soon and I want to know what my options are with that. Are there different size engines that would be compatible? Would it be easiest to pull existing engine rebuild and replace?

Also what is the price range for rebulding and replacing an engine like this?

Being mechanically inclined, but haveing no experience with rebuilding an engine would this be a job that I could do myself?

If I wanted to buy a new engine where would be a good place to shop for that?

Thanks for the help!!

Re: 67 impala engine

Just about any early small block chevy will fit like glove, even bolt right up to whatever tranny you already have. When it comes to sbc's, the possibilities are endless! The aftermarket is chock full of just about anything your wallet will let you do.

Hell, you could put a big block in there with a little more work & research. You're a lucky man to have such a car.... keep us posted.
