Quiet Exhaust Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

iit is now time to buy an exhaust for by b16 crx swap. i want the most quiet one i can get, with performance. basically i want an exhaust that wont restrict airflow, wont rust in 2 months like stock, and i can drive throughmy neighborhood without everyone and their mother looking at me like im goin a 120 mph. price is a factor, so i was thinking custom exhaust? would that be quiet? also, it would help against the piggys profiling my car(meaning the cops also wouldnt turn their heads
)..... PLEASE HELP

check out the b16 recipient

Re: Quiet Exhaust Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow man, it appears to be in really nice shape.

If you want quiet and not fuggin expensive, I'd suggest custom. I had the same dilema as I'm sick of police attention, (and attention from others for that matter) so I went with a basically stock exhaust system. I got a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler and all 2.5" piping including the cat, just got it all bent at an exhaust shop to look stock. So its a nice combonation of flow and sound. Its nice to be able to hear my motor again and not just the muffler buzzing.

Custom!

Re: Quiet Exhaust Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Might want to throw a resonator on it too. I ran 2.25" with just a turbo muffler and it almost made my ears bleed on the highway.

I don't believe you can get a system any more quiet and still keep good flow than whats been discussed above. Resonator is kinda like a bullet shaped, free flowing muffler with vents on the inside...kinda like a glass pack without the snap, crackle, pop.

Almost every brand of exhaust when you floor it and at WOT it will be loud? It seems you want something that is quiet when you floor it through a neighborhood. That just wont work. You want a resenator.

An exhaust wont make your car fast at all. It will add at most like 1-2hp at the wheels if that! on a stock car! On a stock car exhaust will make you sound louder if thats what you mean!

They weld the pipes together creating a custom exhaust.

Glass pack isnt the same thing. Try putting that on and see how quiet your car is
LOl

Good luck. Custom is the way to go for cost. Otherwise on my car i have a Thermal Research and Development. Its very expensive (cost $492bucks) but it produces a tone that doesnt sound like any other honda i have ever heard!

The thermal exhaust IMO was well worth the money. Plus a lifetime warranty and it weighs like 15lbs.!!

You got yourself a sweet Si! Go with Thermal R&D or for a few bones more DC. Or if you want cheap do what SiZ said and use a resonator and be sure to use aluminized piping with mandrel bends.

They do plenty.
Fact is, your car is going to make some noise at 8,000rpm even if you just used a stock exhaust, but a stock-like exhaust system will be considerably more quiet.
Here's a shitty pic of my stock looking exhuast. You'll probably want to use 2.5" piping for your car because 2.5 is optimal for a B16. A good header for the B16 will have a 2.5" collector so you want your piping to be the same.
Mine - 2.5

Hey doug...what you whippin? i didnt think the n1 fit on a CRX. neway....how does it sound on your car and what motor do you have??? My friend has an integra ls with the b18a and he has the n1 (not the fake ebay one) and his is loud as shit. i cant really stand to go newhere in his car.

but as for this topic. custom is the best bet for cheap but you need to go around to a few shops and talk to them. my friend had a del sol SE with the b16 and he put a custom on it and it was the loudest exhaust i ever heard. he had 2 1/5" pipe. i was gona get custom untill i ran across someone sellin the GReddy MX exhaust for $200. I have heard that Raven makes really good quality and sounding mufflers. They will run newhere from $100-150. good luck.

PS- since your gona spend around $200-250 on a custom how much harder would it be to get up another $250-300 for an Apex i, GReddy, DC, or Thermal exhaust??? just wondering.
