2000 Lesabre brake noise problem

Hi:

I am new to the forum. My problem started when I took my car for a brake inspection 7/04 due to a soft pedal. I was not noticing any noise. I got a four wheel friction reline, 3 new brake shoes, new front rotors, recon calipersx4, and brakes were blead and flushed. Shortly after this, I started hearing a loud, low pitched horn like sound when braking similar to the sound you hear when some large trucks are braking. I took the car back to the shopand they said the sound was coming from the rear brakes and sanded the pads. The sound stopped for about 5 days and when I took it back they replaced the rear brake pads. Sound came back after about 2 weeks. Went back for the 5th time and the rear rotors and pads were replaced. Sound stopped for about 2 weeks then came back. So I took the car to the dealer for second opinion and they said the brakes looked fine, thought the sound might be from a almost flat tire I had (makes no sense since sound only with braking ). The sound does not occur all the time. It usually happens after the car has been driven and braked for a while. Sometimes I can go most of the day without the noise, but then it starts again and is very loud!!! I am totally frustrated. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum!

Where did you get the breaks done? Sounds like a Breaks Plus job if they changed all that stuff for a little noice. They also use the cheapest stuff availible to man and keep you coming back with wierd problems.

The work was done at brakes plus. The brakes work fine, but the loud noise is unpredictable and intolerable. Any suggestions on how to fix the problem?

By the way, I'm not knocking you but I know about them because i took my car there also. It sounded so familiar when you spoke of all the work they did. They wanted $700 to put brakes on a 90 Caravan that might have been worth $500.

I'm not sure how to fix your situation but one thing I do know is that they do a more course turn on the rotors and drums which made a 95 Lasebra I had act funny. Also, as I stated, they use very cheap products that do not perform very well. Sorry to tell you but you might have taken it anywhere else for brakes cause no one gets out for the $99 they advertise. I guess now we both learned a lesson about them...
