tranny problem

i think my tranny might be goin or is it just cuz it wasnt warmed up enough i tryied backing up and it wasnt moving so i revved it up to around 3500rpm and it moved a little but slow and then i tried goin forward and it didnt go so i revved up to 3500rpm again and it started goin a lil bit but it spun the tires a lot which i actually kinda liked cuz my car is an automatic so it doesnt do that very much but i jsut wanted sum second opinions cuz my brother said it prolly just needed to b warmed up and i wanna know wat u guys thought.
