1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited

The chime module will not turn off after the ignition switch starts the engine. It goes through its usual bing-bing-bing, then changes to a continuous tone that usually will stop after about 8-10 minutes after driving you insane. I would just remove if if I knew where it is located?

Ah yes, dude, I would love to chat over email.
I had this same problem.

Locate the headlight switch on dash and go down about 6 inches and see that panel? Undo the screws. Inside is a purple box that is the size of a cigerrette pack. If you slide it out and remove the harness your problem with go away.

HOWEVER!!!!

You will lose the ability to unlock/lock all of your doors automatically, meaning you will have to lock each door individually including the tailgate. You will also lose the lock-out gaurd which prevents the driver from locking the drivers door with keys in ignition or the headlights on.
Also you will lose the auto headlight on/off (no big deal there).

Now, I ordered one from my local AAMCO who are geniouses, I mean that. It was $150.. There was only one in the US on a shelve I was told and after 4 different calls I was sure of it. Took 4 weeks.

I installed it. After 4 weeks I got the problem back but not as bad.
It will eventually go off.

What I found out is water. Park your truck pointed down with rear up. Keep out of rain. You will notice that when it doesn't happen one day and you gas it at green light the beep will start.

Now I need help from ANYONE here.

The new problem is this. Unless I unlock the tailgate first before getting into the truck, opening the drivers door even with a key sets the truck alarm off (I didn't even know I had the alarm). What's worse cause I consider the tailgate a workaround is that the electric windows dont work anymore. This just started a week ago when I moved to a new house that does not have a garage and the truck got wet.

Does ANYONE know how to fix this part? Could you recommend where to take it? The dealer told me it could be a $1000 or more to debug it and then the fix would be more.

I have no doubt that after a few good days of warm sun on it it will go away.

To the original poster, feel free to contact me directly over email.

Question, even if you have no reponse.

Is this forum read often? It has been 2 months with not so much as a question. I answered several questions for other users but no one has any idea about this?

Can anyone suggest a better automotive forum? This one , alas, appears to be dead.

Sorry, I don't know about alarms. I'm considering buying a JGC so just started looking at this forum.

There are a lot of helpful people here, it's probably better to start a new thread with your problem so that more people will see it.
