Question Engine Swap 1990 S-10

I just purchased a white 1990 S-10 auto, 2.5L. Great looking truck, just lacking in the horse power department. I was looking at an engine swap but really didn't know where to start. Really, what I'm looking for in a direct blot in without too much modification to the truck. Anyone have an ideas of parts I'm going to need, a good reliable engine, and any books maybe I should read?

If you want little work, don't bother swapping.

for the smallest amount of work possible, sell the truck and buy one with a 3.4 4.3 or 4.6+

Re: Engine Swap 1990 S-10

It must have been a mistake.

They do make a 4.8L though.
