Coolant/water mixture for B16A?

Just wondering if anyone knows what the mixture is - 30% or 50% coolant for the B16A.

Ummm yeah, you got it. its exactly that much?

Mines a lovely brownish colour at the moment, and it seems to run perfectly, so aim for that.

Go with what ever the bottle of coolant recomends for an all alloy engine.
Its one of those things thats dependant on coolant type.

Hmmm... couldn't find a recommendation on the container It had alloy heads, but not all alloy engines.

I may go 30% but I'll see if anyone else has an idea as well. Mine isn't brown, but it's diluted as I could just see clear water last time I checked it. Radiator was rebuilt as a custom job just after I bought the SiR and I feel like pampering it so I'm changing all the fluids this long weekend.

On another note - I got the power steering belt replaced... man did it make a difference to cornering although I miss the high pitched whine as I rev up and the old belt slipped

Nice trick with the power steering. Your now down a few hp to the wheels.

Im fine tuning my fluid level, it has a few leaky seals, so I only partialy top it up to get just the right feel. To much fluid and it feels over assisted, but to little and it gets a bit heavy.

As for the coolant flush, remember to find all the bleed valves and get all the air out.
I think theres only one, at least what the guy at honda pointed out, however I never really know if those guy's really know what thier on about.
However I do know the best place to drain it from is the heater hoses of the back of the head. (and yes, you do need very small hands.)

I did quite a bit of research on this one, naturally Honda recommends only their brand (Ultra) $$$$$
but what you should look for is 'Silicate and Borate free coolant' not many are like this, but it has something to do with the water pump seals not liking those things.
As for mix I did 50/50 which is prolly a bit over the top, you should use distilled/demineralized water as well, so no mineral deposits form in there..
(Well thats what I did, and I'm pretty happy with it)
As for coolant, I know the BP stuff is both silicate and borate free. (It is here in NZ anyway, it should be the same stuff, its prolly made in Aussie anyway)
BP coolant theres a link to the BP stuff, otherwise ask Honda how much it'll cost for their stuff.

Thanks guys. I had already picked up the repco concentrate - I might just go and buy the BP or Honda varient though.

Moppie - where are bleed valves? I'm used to seeing them on the intake manifold, but I can't spot it on the SiR

I've used the autobarn stuff before, and castrol.

It usually does say on the bottle. as long as its not brown like moppie suggested
