hop like a bunny

my '89 gets baaaaad wheelhop under tirespin. i can see that one of the quad shocks is leaking badly, but i was actually hoping to shave those at some point.

so what can i do about this? would better shocks be sufficient, or do i also need to upgrade the control arms? any advice?

Torque ARM with a panhardbar or watts link and rear coil over kits.

Re: hop like a bunny

The quads are pretty useless. You could do as prescribed above or at least replace the lower bars with bars that correct the instant center, and use better bushings in the upper and lower arms. Silverstangs suggestion is probably the better method for all-around handling, the bars work very well for drag-racing applications.

having read over the maximum motorsports website and the description of their parts, i think the torque arm etc is the way to go. they're a reputable company, and their parts work well. a torque arm and panhard bar are a major pita to install, but they completely eliminate wheelhop and lateral axle deflection. and the best part is, with different tires and a different shock setting, you can run the car in a road race, and nobody will think it's a drag car. then go to the strip and hook up.
