Angry Got a Light Violation in Los Angeles

Actually my sister was driving with my mom! They were making a right and a motorcycle cop pulled them over, said #1 her tail light bulbs (99 civic w/ clear/red tail lights) were blue, but they were white, like factory bulb white. She gave her a citation for that and warnings that the sidemarker bulbs have to be amber not blue (but they aren't blue). See the thing is the car is blue so the reflection of the light. I think this cop was being a d*** to my sister, I mean come on I'm always driving around, pull up next to cops at night, and never get s***. I'm taking the car to the CHP center to have them check it out, hopefully get it dismissed. What cars factory come with red/white tail lights and no amber in the rear?. 3.2 TL right? and the CL?

fyi this happened in Los Angeles (in valley)

any advice on how to deal w/ this would be cool

thanks

I have some clear taillights and I was told in one of these forum threads that white turning signals are illegal, so I got some polarg red bulbs for the turning indicators.

1. no car with white/red tails have clear signals, they are always amber/orange.

2. the only colors legal in the rear of a car are red/amber/orange. Sides can only be amber/orange no other colors are street legal.

Check out the MAZADA 626 and the Mazda Millenium. They come from the factory with just red clear tail lights. No amber, and they cool good.

thats what i meant, the bulb can be clear as long as the lense is colored, but you cant have a clear/white bulb with a clear lense.

Why does everyone run around with aall clear bulbs? Too cheap to buy ambers when they change out the corners or tails? I spent like $.55 and got all the amber bulbs I needed for my clears and for my red/clear tails. As far as the tails, you can't really tell the bulb is amber until it blinks and who cares if you have an amber bulb in your corners? It still looks good. I think blue bulbs in the corners looks really stupid, cause 95% of the time the car is not blue and that might be the only time when it would look cool.

I have all clears lenses in my prelude. I know that if I spend the money to clear out my lenses, I don't want this big orange bulb in my clear lenses. That is the purpose of clearing out your lenses. It's not a matter of money to buy amber bulbs or not. But, if you guys want the clear look, but you also want to be legal, there is a solution. Autodynamic.com sells LED bulbs. The bulb is actually clear, so when the bulb is not on, it is clear, but when you turn it on, it is amber. They also have white, blue, and red, I think. I have the white LED's and they look GOOD. They are the closest thing imitating H.I.D. color you can find. A friend of mine has H.I.D. and these bulbs in his corner lenses. The look almost identical. I also have the amber for inspection day. They look really good too. They only come in wedge bulbs though. For 1157 (which is what my turn signal bulb are) bulbs, phillips makes a mirror colored bulb that blinks amber. The LED bulbs are suppossed to last longer than your car. That's another advantage over the normal hyper-white bulbs. Hope this helps
