Drivers door

Hi again, My 93 is a two door and now the drivers door is making a serious CLICK CLICK when I open and close it. I oiled it and it didn't help.
Any suggestions?

My drivers door did the same thing. A lot of Pontiac's that I've seen have had this happen.

My husband had to take a rachet and tighten the nut on the door hinge. It stopped the clicking right away but it needs to be tightened periodically.

Well I tried that and sorry to say, it didn't work. Thank you for the suggestion.

Re: Drivers door

Well now the clicking has stopped but the door just glides free, in other woords, the thing that holds it open isn't doing it. Oh well thats better than hearing that loud clicking all the time.

Yea the clicking is the symptom of the impending failure, happened on my car and it didn't take many open and close cycles before it just gave out.

Re: Drivers door

Sounds like door hinge spring and pawl mechanism, [what holds door in open positon], needs replace.

Try lubing with a silicone grease at the pawl, it is on the cowl where the door hinges are.
