94 SL vs modded H22 98 Accord

A couple of kids from my class and me had to take an hour long trip for a meeting in another city today. I had talked to one of the kids who has a 98 Accord with mods (H22, intake, headers, catback, pulleys, lowered) about racing cuz he said he goes to the track a lot. So finally we get our chance on the thruway, he had a passenger and I had a passenger so it was even. We were doing about 90, he was following me, and then there was this long stretch with no traffic. So I pull into the right lane and slow down a bit to get side by side, look over, he knows whats up so he punches it. I wasn't sure if he was gonna keep going so I waited about 2 seconds before I punched it so he had a car on me when I started. By about 115 I was at his side (gave him the peace sign), 120 half a car on him, 125 a car, 130 car and 1/4 or so, 135 pulled back into left lane in front of him and that's when the car stopped pulling it seemed (don't remember if I was going uphill or no) and we had caught up to traffic so I hit the brakes. Oh yeah my car is 100% stock, just thought i'd share my racing story in case anyone in their SL was wondering if they could beat a H22 Accord.

Re: 94 SL vs modded H22 98 Accord

Hmm, most H22 swaps I've heard of were for the 4th gen Accords...I assume his 98 was a 4 cylinder stock? If I'm correct, I think an earlier accord would have a significant weight advantage over the 98...any idea what your friend runs with that setup?

Damn, aren't you guys "scared" to go at those speeds? Hehe Cause I'm always scared about my tires shreading past 95-100...

Re: 94 SL vs modded H22 98 Accord

I think he said he ran a 15.6 as his best time...so I expected the kill but I wasn't completely sure at higher speeds. And no i'm not scared of going that fast cuz I know my car's condition at all times. Now when I test drive a car off the lot going those speeds or anytime I go that fast in my Firebird which is 17 years old, i'm scared.

Oh yeah idk how much the weight difference is, but he's got some reductions done. Back seat removal, racing seats i think was it though.

Re: 94 SL vs modded H22 98 Accord

Because the max was probably a 6 cylinder and max's are notoriously faster than accords. I bet the max is running faster than a 15.6 at best.

I ph33r hatch's. Even though my friend has a completely stock B16 in his 1992 Civic hatchback, he can eat my car alive as if it were standing still. 170HP but only 2,000lbs. It's amazing what you can do in a light car while powershifting. He did beat a (forgot year) SS Camaro though, from a roll. I don't get that one either. I was in the car with him when he raced him... but I still don't believe it. It makes me jealous. lol. The power-to-weight ratio hurts.

I must do something about my HP in order to compete with this. lol. TT swap!
