brake lights don't work
I have a 1998 jeep cherokee sport and I noticed the brake lights dont work about a week ago, it's not the bulbs, checked those. May be a fuse but I don't know where it would be for the brake lights, the jeep didn't come with an owners manual. Any idea what the problem would be? No idea here what would cause them to go out all at once, thanks

Pull your fuses, in the engine compartment and passenger side kick panel and see if one of them is bad.
Your brake light switch could be bad or disconnected. |

Re: brake lights don't work
Checked all fuses, on passenger kick panel and under the hood, all of them are intact, what should I do now? is there any way I can check to see if the brake light switch is working without taking it off?

I guess. You can pull the wire plug in gizmo that goes to the switch, short it out, see if lights come on. Basically the switch just closes which allows the circuit to be completed, turning the lights on. You can manually do the same by bypassing the switch.
But you still have to get up under the dash/brake pedal arm where the switch is. So why not take off the switch? Jim |
