Snow problem

Hi, my friend has a 2003 Cavalier. A few weeks ago when he was driving it in the snow the car slid into a curb as he was turning. The curb hit his right front tire hard and caused the rim to dent slightly. He quickly pulled off (about 20 feet away) and put on the spare tire.

What are some possible problems that his car could have? He already paid for a front end allignment.

Now the company said that they will need to replace the wheel bearings in the car. They say that it will cost $500. Is this reasonable?

possible wheel bearing damage but, jack the front end up grab the wheel and then try to rock it back and forth (hand on each side) feel for play, play is bad no play is good and then spin the wheel to see if it turns smoothly. If it resulted in bearing dam it would usually mean that it would grind or bind. Also while it's jacked up rock the wheel back and forth with hands at 12 and 6 o clock positions. if play is felt here and not side to side the the ball joint in the control arm could be shot and if it doesn't have play top to bottom but side to side, tie-rod end could be stuffed.
