OK so I just moved out west and on the way my 91 Prelude died and I was forced to buy a quick cheap ride. I settled on a 1.6L 4 speed automatic 1990 Isuzu Impulse with 145K on it. It ran like CRAP when I bought it but I knew what it needed and after a new air filter, plugs, & wires she runs pretty smooth for a car with 145K on her, even blows cold air and doesn't stall out while doing it.. Crappy thing is I'm struggling to get 20mpg in the city of Vegas here. I don't drive much and I don't drive fast, I'm the kinda driver who thinks of gas mileage when I'm behind the wheel, I try to flow around traffic avoiding stop and go driving yea know, but still she's going through more gas then I think she should. Oh I also replaced a lil short stretch of rubber gas line under the hood right after I got the car, it was pissin a lil fuel out while running but I don't see it leaking any now so that's not the problem There is however this lil unit located between where the air cleaner pipe goes into the intake and the distributor that has a vacuum line going to it that doesn't seem to have any vacuum while the cars idling. Maybe its not suppose to at idle but I noticed a really old cracked rubber tube going to it so I replaced it with a new one but it felt kinda pointless a thing to do cuz like I said I felt no vacuum anyway.. I don't know... Where do you all think I should start looking? At 2.25 a gallon I wanna get all I can out of her!
