HELP! Accessory belt tensioner
I'm doing a water pump change on a 95 Ford Taurus GL with a 3.0 V6 (I think it's OHV but not 100% sure). Everything has gone smoothly except when I try to pull the pump out, the tensioner is in the way of one stud and I can't get it free. The Haynes manual said the tensioner should be removed by taking out nuts, but this tensioner didn't seem to have nuts. It looks like either a hex key or a torx bit in the center will be needed but I'm not 100% sure. Can anyone help me with a way to move that thing out of the way/take it off? Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: HELP! Accessory belt tensioner
I don't have your year but typically it's just single large bolt holding the tensioner on in the center. You will want a fairly large wrench/ratchet/whatever since you typically really need some torque to get these things out.

That reply reminds me of something I forgot to mention. The pulley, with the bolt, just came right off, but it's the tensioner assembly (?) that the pulley was attached to that's in the way now. Sorry about that. Thanks.

So does anyone know how to take the belt tensioner (not the belt pulley) off? I'm hoping to finish this up today. Thanks.
