Exclamation No Headlights, wipers, fan blower!

97 Golf "El Cheapo" model, 1.8l I think, manual trans.

This happened as well last year, and the ingnition switch was replaced. It doesn't feel "loose" like last year, but similar problem.
The console "Brake" indication stays on dim, and I have no headlights (although I can flash the highbeams, they won't stay on), no wipers, no heater/AC fan.

Interior light works, doors lock with key or dash button, turn signals/hazards work, brake lights and horn work. Moon roof motor/switch works.
Battery replaced one month ago.
Fuses all checked just for kicks.

I'm hoping I won't have to disassemble the steering column and check the key switch, although that's what things are pointing to so far.

Please help, I can't put any more money into this PoS car!

Re: No Headlights, wipers, fan blower!

I have the exact same problem! I've been searching the net for a few days now and it seems like it's not so uncommon. Looks like you may be right about the ignition switch.

This person had the same problem as well: http://drizzten.com/blargchives/000193.html (search for "brake")

That's a shame guys.... Seem like vw should have to called all the cars with such defect years ago...

If you have to replace your ignition switch, try rockauto dot com, or stopshopanddrive dot com, they have awesome parts a very nice prices.

Ignition starter switch = 22.79 + s&h.

Good Luck
