Taking the Muffler out in CA of a 94 3banger

I wanna take the muffler out of my friend's 94 Metro 3 banger to give it a ricy sound (Plus its just flat out funny on that car). We live in california and Im worried about gettin busted by the popos since ca vehicle code stipulates that all vehicles must be running a non-altered muffler. But, since the puny 3 banger make less noise with no muffler than my big jeep with a single stage flowmaster, i figure no one will ever know hes not runnin a muffler. Unless, he goes to smog it and they look under the car (Of course no lazy smog guy has ever bothered to look under my car and see im replaced my perfectly good cat for a high flow stainless cat) So, anyone in CA taken off thier mufflers and get away with it? Its not that loud!!!! If my other buddy runs a single chamber magnaflow on his hemi, i can't imagine johnny pullin over a freakin geo metro on a noise violation?????

DON"T do it! The Republik of Kalifornia will hunt you down and Terminate you! In my opinion it just isn't worth the possible hassle, the local police may not even notice, but the smog monsters will.

I dunno what kinda 3 banger you have. Last time I started a metro up with no muffler, it was decent while idling, but the second you got the RPM's up, it was loud as all hell. But I agree, don't take the muffler off. Not worth the fines and hassles. If you want, find a "turbo muffler" They look like a regular muffler, but are straight through, high flowing. They're not quiet either tho.

I can't resist, we put some straight pipe and a twin tip stainless tip on the back end. Loud as hell, i don't know about that, but loud enough to get heads turning. but nobodys lookkin at the geo, thier searchin for hondas and acuras

btw, while smoggin my jeep, the guy said he doesnt care what happens after the catalytic converter.
