Musashi owns a cop (well sorta)

I have waited 30 days since this happened to be able to post it and finally I can talk about it.

A month ago I had a little problem with my car in that the master clutch cylinder was leaking and I couldnt launch the car for shit cause it would empty out the resivour. at the same time it felt slow, really slow. In fact I had a race with a stock Civic EX and he got two cars on me when we took off, it took me nearly a whole 1/4 mile to catch and pass him. I panicked right away cause its supposed to be a mid 15 sec car but almost got toasted by a 17 sec car!
I decided to go out that night and race my brother in law in his Eclipse cause we've raced dozens of times and I know how both cars behave more or less when at optimum performance. We took down a strip which is a main street with four lanes each way. it was about 9:30pm and there where maybe 3 other cars on that road. I lined up next to him and had about 4 blocks before the next light. when it went green we gunned it and I took a lead and slowly pulled away each gear, at about third and almost at the top of it I was hitting between 80 to 85 mph and concentrating on my rpms. as I watched the needle climb my eyes bounced back and forth between the street and the guage. I ignored the possition of my friend as I was already ahead and would look back only after I reached the middle of forth or 110 mph before I would shut down. I glanced up and see the street ligh turn yellow, I was still a few yards away.......can I make it? I wondered and a fear began to posses me. what if I cant reach it on time, fuck it, it was too late to brake but what if someone crosses the intersection before I clear it. I cant risk it...I HAVE TO STOP. I look back as I hit the brakes and realize my friend is flashing his lights at me frantically. I though he was saying STOP. but he wassnt...it was a warning. My foot was on the brake already but I just couldnt decellerate fast enough. the light turnned red, 75, 70, 65, 50 the brakes just wouldnt stop......damn this ABS crap! then I realized why he was flashing, why I had a bad feeling, why I was about to be screwed. there was a State Trooper on the corner of the intersection. he had some dude pulled over and giving him a ticket. both cars where on the street aiming in the dirrection I was heading. my tires slipped, the car began to slide and the tires screamed loudly, calling all the attention in the world to the white car hauling ass and shooting out smoke as he crossed a red light doing like 50 mph. cars stopped, people where honking at me, the cop just stood there looking at me as I flew by. in the panic my car cut out on me right as I cleared the intersection and I was just standin there in the middle of the street. the cop yells out "what the fuck?" so I turn the car back on and haulled ass. I thought I was dead, I thought he was gonna come after me, I thought the camera had caught my plates.....but that was a month ago sooooo I guess I'm in the clear.
anyway it was really stupid and I didnt write this up as a simple annecdote. Guys be carefull out there, the simple thrill of street racing is not worth a night in jail, an impounded car or your life. I risked all three for being a dumb ass. after that the doubt still remained so I did what I should have done in the first place, I payed 15 bucks and ran it at the track. stay safe everyone.

Re: Musashi owns a cop (well sorta)

Good message, and I'm glad you took the time to voice the possibilities of what may or may not happen because of you illegal street racing. So many things can go wrong on the streets that most aren't aware of because they get caught up in the "thrill" of it all. I'm glad you noticed that, and took it to the track.

Honestly, I thought this was going to be a thread about racing a cop and beating him . Well, atleast you didnt' get a ticket, and you're alright. L8...

Re: Musashi owns a cop (well sorta)

That was a really dumb move, but atleast you owned up to it sort of and more then likely have learned from it, and that's what counts.

So anyways, what were your track times?

Re: Musashi owns a cop (well sorta)

Nice job getting out of it, and good thinking waiting a month. Leave the races to where there arent intersections (business parking lots, side roads), I always find it best to set up a race rather than just do it randomly...unless someone provokes the road rage in me

Re: Musashi owns a cop (well sorta)

I had something similar happen to me once, minus the cop...I was trying to make a light, hoping it wouldn't turn yellow late enough to make me think I would make it...sure enough, it did...I hit the gas immediately, and then realized there was no way in hell I would make it...even with the ABS I locked my front tires and slid 1/2way through the intersection....very embarrassing...put it in reverse, back up past the line, and pretended like nothing happened...could have been worse.

Wow I'd shit myself in that situation (seriously). Don't street race through stop lights! I always do my racing on an open road preferably the freeway late at night. Glad your safe

Re: Musashi owns a cop (well sorta)

a similar thing happened to my friend, sans cops. he was in his 91 Mustang GT California Edition (5 spd, 4.9L, saleen racecraft suspension, centerline mags) and hes smashin down this street, pinning the 140mph speedo. about 500 ft or so away, the light turns yellow. he tries to downshift and hit the brakes, trying his best to slow down for the light. he gets to about 100 feet from the light (which was already red, cars started going thru) and hes still doing over 100 mph, HELLA smoke comin out from the brakes and tires, and he looks over to his friend and said "dude, im so sorry" and he just guns it thru the intersection, and manages to get through between cars. wasnt his time, luckily

Man I know I would've been like "OH SHIT!" right as I saw the cop, and felt like I was dead after I did that stuff infront of him, glad to hear that you didnt get a ticket though, maybe the cop thought your car had a problem or something, oh well no tickets is a good thing.

Jesus Christ, glad I wasn't going through that intersection.

Yea, wow. This is precisely why my 1st mods on my next car are going to be brakes and suspension. Noo joke, why go fast if you can't stop fast also? That very well could've been his life, his freind's life, and the life of some poor fellow crossing the light.

My first upgrade actually where brakes. they are on my sig but even with that its still hard to stop after certain speeds.
oh and the track times sucked ass but at least I know what my car is running and its well in lines with the stock times. it ran 15.6@91mph.

Re: Musashi owns a cop (well sorta)

Been there in my Accord...I was 18, speeding around at 2am, light turned yellow up ahead, I locked the brakes, slide right through a huge 5 way intersection, and I mean all the way through...I ended up in the gas-station parking lot on the opposite corner...and that gas station is a frequent cop camp-ground in the wee hours of the morning...

Luckily no cop, but it was enough to scare the hell outta me that night. Glad you made it out without a scratch either. Stay safe.
