Question Car running rough

Here is the problem with me car (1991 Ford Escort)...I have had an oil leak for some time, but I manage to get by. I just changed my car's oil and oil filter, along with the air filter, crankcase filter, and PVC valve. In addition, I added some type of oil sealant with the oil change, which is suppose to stop or help oil leakage (this stuff was very thick). After all of this, my car started running rough. Usually the most roughness comes when I first start driving the car on any given day. The problem is hard to explain...what I can tell you is that the car's performance is hindered and it stutters slightly ever so often as I am driving her. This has been going on ever since I changed all that mentioned above, about 3 weeks ago. A few days ago, I had to have my vehicle smogged, which it past, so I know nothing majorly wrong with the exhaust system, or is there? Any help or insight would be great appreciated. Thank you.
