Road Force Variation - Tires

I learned a new term today. Local dealer had a promotion to do a free rotate and balance (likely to get a look at your brakes). After my tires were balanced they told me I needed two new ones because of "excessive road force variation." They have a new balancing machine and it also applies a road simulated force to the tire to check for other imperfections. My tires have 9,000km's on them, replaced in November. Here's the catch. I had one replaced under warranty, two replaced at my buddies shop, and one is the original spare. The dealer that had installed them does not have the fancy tire balancing unit and they say nothing is wrong with the tires, nor did they record serial numbers so they told me they are not even sure if these tires are the ones they installed. I checked serial numbers on the tires and the two are not even close so they were not installed by the same shop. Goodyear won't stand behind them and has told me to go back to where I purchased them. I have learned to live with constant vibrations and road noise of this truck, because it is a truck. The tires by the way are Wrangler RT/S and one of them was replaced a month after it was installed because they couldn't balance it with less than eight weights. I have never been unhappier with a brand of tires.

Re: Road Force Variation - Tires

This is normal with Goodyear Wranglers.

One of the worst tires for ride quality and uneven wear.

You have a warranty on those tires and they have to be replaced.
