how do you test the fuel pump with out taking off the tank. i know that the bcm is where the fuel pump relay is integrated. i got a 1993 taurus gl 3.0 wagon i had an engine from a 99 taurus and it worked fine then the tranny went(as expected) put a new tranny in and the thing wont start. it was working fine before the swap. i unplugged the fuel line from the fuel filter and nothing comes out when i turn the key, there is no buzzing, no fuel in the cylinder. can a bad ignition switch cause no power to the pump? what else can cause this problem beside a bad pump?

Yeah I think you should definitely have fuel blowing out all over the place when you start the car if the lines aren't hooked up.

This is probably a long shot, but make sure that your fuel pump shutoff switch isn't cutting power to the switch. I don't know where it is in your car; in my '02 sedan, it's on the passengerside wall of the trunk, behind the trim/carpeting. Once you find it, ensure that it's plugged in and that the button is pushed down so the pump can run. You could also have a blown fuse.

It seems highly unlikely the the fuel pump just suddenly died without warning during the repair unless some other sort of trauma was caused to the pump.

I'm not aware whether the ignition switch has any bearing on this, sorry.

I had an 87 Taurus wagon and as things changed slowly over the years, you might look behind the paneling in the rear seating area of the wagon. The fuel cut-off should be located just forward of the tail light on the passenger side of the car. Good luck.

the cut off switch is off a running 95 windstar. i put the tauruses into the wiindstar and it runs fine. so i think thats ruled out. what else? unless there are 2 cut off switches? which fuse is for the fuel pump on the 1993 taurus? the owners handbook is real confusing
