2.4L running rough with CEL and ETS light on

It's not a GA, it's a 97 Achiva, but has the same engine (2.4L DHOC)....This morning, it started sputtering a little, when I got it home it was running rough...No lights were on until I got home, then the CEL, and ETS (Trac control) light came on...It was blowing black smoke, and smelled like sulfer...Any ideas?

Hhmm interesting set of symptoms. My 96 GA with same motor recently had very rough running and eventually CE light on. Ended up replacing coil pack and adapter to correct.
