2001 Taurus shifting out of park problem
I have intermittent problems shifting my 2001 Taurus out of park. It doesn't seem to be steering wheel lock related. What else? What kind of brake pedal interlock is used on the 2001 Taurus, cable, solenoid, tranny controls?

The manual shows an interlock for the floor shifter, but I cannot find one for the column shift. Check the stoplight switch to be sure it has a good connection. Sorry, maybe someone else can offer more help.

Note that if you park on an incline/decline, it's going to be hard to pull it out of park because much of the car's weight is resting on the interlock. If this is the case, you may want to set your parking brake when you stop the car but before getting off the brake pedal.
