Unhappy having a problem...

i just recently bought an intake duct for a tpi 3rd gen... i was going to use this to connect my throttle body to the plastic intake bellows (the y-shaped piece) but i'm having a problem... the duct that i bought fits perfectly over the lt1 throttle body (since it's the same as a tpi TB) but the other circular end won't fit over my MAF (duct is too small) and the MAF also won't fit onto the bellow (y-shaped plastic piece) because the plasit hole is too small... now i can't figure out where my problem lies... i'm pretty sure that all MAF's are the same so its not because i have the LT1 MAF, are there different types of TPI intake ducts? or am i missing a piece that goes inbetween the MAF and plastic piece? is the duct supposed to be really hard to fit over the MAF? i think i might be able to stretch the duct to fit on the MAF but i don't won't to force it just incase i don't have the right piece...

please any input on what might be going on would be really helpful guys...

Re: having a problem...

Was the duct from speed density TPI?. and yes there were 2 kinds of TPI. There were the early MAF system and later they had Speed density.

Re: having a problem...

i was thinkin that myself, but also, why would you think that all MAF sensors are the same external dimentions? If you did get the MAF duct and it dosnt fit your LT1 MAF sensor, id say its because the sensor is a different size than that used on the TPI cars. I dont know for sure, but it makes sense to me.

Re: having a problem...

I don't think they are different dimensions but I could be wrong but I hear of people swapping the MAF all the time but never heard the need to get another duct with the new Z06 MAF or any aftermarket larger MAF they get.

Re: having a problem...

check these links out
not sure if this is the factory setup or custom job.. click aribox.jpg
http://transamws6.com/pics/82_ta/

this guy describes how he did it about 3/4 down the page by the picture of the airbox.
http://lt1powered85z.cz28.com/custom.html

looks like you can't mix and match 3rd gen with 4th gen for the tpi airbox without custom work or creativity.
