Is it really completely rounded? I was trying to use a 3/4" socket (which is not the right size) and rounded the corners off. Went to the parts store and got a 6 point 16mm (I think) socket and was successful in getting them off. The bolts are hardened and should still have some flats to them. Good luck!

If that fails , you could try taking a grinder and grinding some flat spots back onto it so you could either use a open end wrench or, should i say it? a crescent wrench. First off maybe you could try a smaller pipe wrench, i have seen them twist bolts and not slip....... just a thought.
