2002 Chevy Venture WB Edition

02 Chevy Venture WB Edition
62K on it

A/C Has suddenly quit... recharged the system and it lasted a day and a half. Recharged with freon that includes UV detection and cannot see any leaks. There is a hissing sound coming from the vents while A/C is on... No apparent leaks from the hoses(that I can see) anyone have any ideas where to look next??? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Joe,

I have had A/C problems recently too.

The good news is - its fixed & could freeze me in summer heat. The bad news - $700 plus to replace the condenser (new GM/AC-Delco part).

There has to be a leak somewhere, it is just a matter of finding it. If you can't see it on any of the external parts (with a UV light) then that leaves internal parts. That only leaves what is under the dash (evaporator & connections).

You MAY be able to see a leak by putting the UV light down one of the dash vents, but maybe not, since it takes a day or more to quit working (slow/small leak). It may take some disassembly of the HVAC unit to get a light on the evaporator and the lines that connect to it.

Good luck,

Greg,

Thanks for the reply! I have had no problems with this van until this point..I guess I will see about the condenser and see if maybe it is leaking. I am going to see if maybe the hose that feeds the rear a/c is leaking first just to cover all my basis....thanks again for the reply...knowing my luck, it will be the $700 repair!

Joe
