500 hp
500 ft/lbs of torque

yeah the Ram would eat the Lightning for lunch, by a whole second in the quarter mile, the Lightning has I believe 380 hp and 450 torque... but look at it this way, the Lightning is an actual production car, the SRT-10 is just a concept vehicle at this point, and also I bet IF they do decide to mass produce the SRT-10, the price will be way more (well worth it of course for the 500 hp and torque) because you know that Viper engine ain't cheap...

Question

$35K for the SRT sounds a bit low to me! anything off the viper is extremely expensive. but if it really is only 35K, i'm getting one as soon as i can afford it!. the SRT also looks much more luxurious than the Lightning, not to mention the 6speed viper trans.:sun:

I am not POSITVE... but from what I have heard from MULTIPLE different boards and some Diamler Chrysler insiders they are supposed to run neck and neck with the Lightning as far as price and availablity, the only difference is that the SRT10RAMS will be made to order, there will be no such thing as showroom stock for one. as far as the cost of the Viper, the engine (in crate form) is only 12000-13000, the tranny is only 2000, rear-end and driveshaft shouldn't be more than 1000-2000, the majority of the Viper's price is the fact that you're paying for a VIPER. when I was at the track the other weekend, there was a 95 Ram 318cid that had a stylized SRT badge on his back window... when I saw it I LAUGHED MY ASS OFF.

The SRT-10 RAM is going to be produced. At this point I wouldn't call it a concept anymore. Besides just wait until Dodge releases the new 5.9L 360ci Hemi later this year. The first thing they plan to put it in are the RAMs. The new Hemi is supposed to put out about 350-400HP. Nobody knows for sure yet. I am sure that thing will get up and go pretty damn quick. I hear they plan to put it in the Jeeps as well, and when the regular 5.9L went 0-60 in 6.1 seconds, just imagine what the Hemi will do. Plus I don't know if any of you watched Hot Rod T.V. lately but they took a new RAM, pulled the motor and dropped a 528ci Hemi in it. That will eat the other three alive. Chevy and Ford can't compare with that.

Really? Well I would prefer the 340ci anyhow. The 340 was a much better engine than the 360ci, I wonder if that will apply here.

I agree with ya there..... but somehow I doubt it'll be as good... the old 340's were made with a different material than the other engines... they had a high nickel content in them, and would withstand MUCH more heat and abuse

can't wait to see what they come out with to make them more powerful, stroked, bored, turbo'd, supered, I'm getting chill bumps just thinking about it:sun:

just imagine that little R/T with a HEMI...... A HEMI....... GOD I can't wait.... alright, I've had enough enjoyment for this post...

My money is obviously on the 2003 Ford Lightning Concept. It's 500 HP (550 if you include Ford's patented "secret") so The Dodge SRT isn't going to "blow the doors off" of this one!

The Lightning's been around since 1993 and it's still the fastest Pickup.
