Re: revving engine bad??

first, type in english please. second, if there's smoke coming out now but wasn't before, then you may have blown a gasket or seal.. blue smoke (burnt oil) sometimes means you've blown your head gasket or other times valve seals.. all that matters is that you've got oil burning in your cylinders and thats bad.

Re: revving engine bad??

WEll the best way to know if it is cylinder damage is a compression test. Blown headgaskets cause white smoke. Best way to know of a blown headgasket is a leak-down test or a coolant hydrocarbon test. Is there smoke coming out when you are driving?

Revving is not bad. But do not rev the engine if it is not fully warmed up. Racing an engine before it is properly warmed up is the number one cause of engine failure.

Summed up, Don't be a dumbass.

Re: revving engine bad??

lol exactly, also if your engine has alot of miles on it, expect it to smoke somewhat. I mean its like the grandpa of engines....its going to have a few accidents.

Re: revving engine bad??

NEVER rev a COLD engine! If the engine is cold and the oil hasn't pumped into every place it needs to be....you could end up in deep kimchee.

Re: revving engine bad??

Not just that, the oil isn't warmed up so it is still thick. It hasn't reached the proper viscocity level.

Re: revving engine bad??

yup.. causes the oil particles to shear and eventually your oil won't be doing anything except splashing filth in your block.

if it's at operating temperature... revving isn't bad... jus don't hit the rev limiter.

Re: revving engine bad??

reving is ok as long as u don't bounce the RPM off the redline...

why do u want to rev anyways?

i don't rev bcus SR r not that responsive (like most Turbo cars)
