Qustion about Vapor canister

I have a 2 bbl carb on my 87 dodge truck(.318cid) I broke the canister trying to tune up the truck. I know the emission reasons why it is needed on truck but i plan on putting in a MSD ignition, Holly 4bbl carb. and intake, tha start withcan I run a direct line To carb from fuel pump and carb to return line or does the vapor canister have other important functions

That is just there to catch you fuel vapors from your fuel tank you would be better off to plug it off than to run it to your carb. You do not need it
