2005 Yukon Help

Hey Guys,

I just bought a new Yukon about two weeks ago. So far I love the truck, very satisfied with it. The only problem I have is 2 days ago a noise developed in the dash about where the sensor for the daytime running lights are. It happens whenever I hit a bump or hole in the road. It sounds like something is hitting the windshield or a piece of metal in the dash. I took it to the dealership and they said that they drove it around the block and did not hear anything, I told them that if you are on a smooth road, which they were, then the sound is too faint to really hear. It only gets loud when you go over some bumps and holes in the road. They wanted me to leave it over night and they would drive it again, I told the that I did not by a $40,000 vehicle to let it set in the service dept. Do any of you know if there is something with the windshields or the dashes in the 05's? Or has anyone had anything similar happen? Thanks, Andy

I developed a noise I thought was in the dash during highway speed driving. It ended up being the two strips of windshield trim, on the outside, that run top to bottom on each side. Four screws hold each one on. You will have to open the doors and look for the screws underneath the black door seal molding. The trim can vibrate with wind getting up under them. You can run a bead of silicone down each one or double stick tape which will attach trim (reuse the screws also) to windshield, ending the vibration noise.

Thanks for the info, I will try that this evening. My wife drives the Yukon so I have to wait till she gets home. I hope that is all it is, that will save me a trip back to the dealership (where apparently they need hearing aids).

Thanks,
Andy

Hell, it's under warranty. I wouldn't be doing it myself. Mention this to dealer and see if it's the problem.

Yeah, I know, I just hate going over there really puts me in a bad mood for the rest of the day. But I probably will though, I may try a different service writer this time, the last guy did not have very good people skills in my opinion. Again thanks for the info I will tell them about this and hopefully they can find it this time.

Take Care,
Andy
