I am looking for help on general maintenance questions from everyone. I have a 99 GMC Sierra with around 73,000 miles. I have never taken it in for a general maintenance inspection (other than oil changes, coolant check, fluid checks, etc........which I do myself). What types of things do people suggest as NECESSARY things to do to your pickup for general maintenance (ie: transmission flush, coolant flush, check belts, hoses, lube chassis, etc). I am looking for only necessary items as I realize this list could be endless. I don't want to spend a forture and get ripped off on unnecessary items. Can people suggest what things I should look at seriously doing to keep my truck running well for the next 100k?? Thanks.

Re: general maintenance questions
chassis should be lubed at every oil change. i change the tranny fluid&filter, diff oil, transfercase oil, and fuel filter every 40,000kms. you should also check all the balljoints, other steering components and brakes regularly.also rotate your tires every 3 oil changes gm say's dexcool is good for something like 7 years or 200,000 miles but i wouldn't wait that long. also the air filter should be checked and tapped out at every oil change.
