Help!!! Buying a civic.
Found a 92' Civic, 4 door, 5 speed. The body is in GREAT shape. The motor runs very well. They're asking 3000, I offered 2700, they accepted. Is this a decent price? It has 113,000 Miles.
Other questions, lets say I purchase this vehicle. The interior is the ugliest brown/purple/pink (factory brown, age turned it). I'm thinking of ripping it all out, and putting 4 sparco bucket seats (swivels in the back). Any idea if that is possible, and how difficult it is to do? The body I'll leave alone, its in AMAZING shape for a 92. I MIGHT do a body kit, that will probably be much further down the road. For the engine, I'm doing a swap, the swap page helped greately. However it left a few questions unanswered. Unspecified were individual models. Will this 92 Civic (no clue what model) fit a b18b? Or even the infamous h22a? That is probably my biggest concern aside from if I'm getting a good deal. My final thought is this: I hate 4 doors. The only reason I'm considering this, is I had a nasty thought. Suicide backdoors, Lambo front doors.... Overkill? Too much rice? I think it'd be sweet personally, but since I'm only picturing it in my mind, I dont know if its crossing the classy line, into the tacky lane. Any feedback is always appreciated... Lemme know if I'm getting ripped off!!! *A side note, I fell in love with this car, after looking at a 97 integra GS, for 5000. It had 170k miles, and the body looked like SHIT.... Seems the civic is a pretty sweet deal, considering I should get a year outta the motor, until I do the swap. Oh btw, I'm buying the car in 14 hours... Not to rush anyone:P |

Is that with a motor? What kinda condition is it in? Am I being foolish to pay 2700 for a 92 with 113k miles?

depends on the condition but they usually run about $3,500 around here with on average 150000 miles. 2700 sounds like a good price if the car is in good condition and runs good. 113,000 miles is not a lot for a honda

Re: Help!!! Buying a civic.
well if you plan on doing a motor swap, your not getting a good deal cause most of the money is for the motor already in there. I would just wait till you find a car with alot of miles

That thought has definately crossed my mind (to wait and find a real beater). However, I'm gonna be starting school soon, and wont be doing a motor swap till after, looking at probably 2 years. I figure with 113k, regular maintance will get me through school. Then I'll feel I've gotten my moneys worth from the engine, throw it out, and put a BEAST in it

Well, bought it!! GO me go!!! First things first, I'm putting 4 sparco seats, because the interior makes me sick. Ne one with input on that, feel free to post your opinion... For now, the motor is staying stock, no sense building up a POS motor, when I plan on swaping. Swapping wont happen for quite some time, still want some ideas on that. Either the b18, or h22 havent quite decided. I'll grab some pics of it tomorrow. I'll see about posting my brother's video too... He felt like beating on his 350Z, heh.

Re: Help!!! Buying a civic.
dude you cant put in 4 sparco seats because the rear seats wont fit on the gas tank. i just built an amp table on it and there is no way youll be able to get more bucket seats bolted in back there. so drop that back down to 2 sparcos and then just get the stock seats reupholstered in vinyl or suede. its like 20 bucks a yard and take it to a upholstering shop and some grandma will do it for you. sorry to burst your bubble. maybe in an SUV or minivan but not a lil honda

You're right, and really I didnt mean 4 sparcos. What I intend on doing, is putting 2 full size sparcos in front, and 2 smaller bucketseats in back. Something like: http://www.sportscar-parts.com/mivas...t_Code=CS20051
Maybe not that exact style, but about that size. |
