Car Comparison
I've been looking around... and from what I've seen, a n/a 1994-1998 Supra goes for about $18k USD (average)? Well, I was wondering how you all would compare a 4th generation n/a supra to a, lets say, a mid 80's corvette... I mean... Performance/style wise.... how would you compare them? I notice that they are both in similar price ranges, and I was just hoping for some feedback from the supra community. Thanks!

Uh, If your looking in the supra area then a vett is probobly not for you. I would suggest a 300zx as a comprable car in power and handling, but the price is far lower. For around 6 or seven you can get a twin turbo 300zx with 300 horse. I've not heard much about them from owners but what i have heard is good. Look into them.

The vette, 300, and Supra are all in the same classs. They are all 2 door 2 seat GTs, though I believe the 300 was in a lower price class when new. The 924 was a light weight roadster putting it in a class with the likes of todays Boxter, the BMW Z3/4, and the Lotus Eliese. They all weigh about the same, make similar power stock, and handle reasonably well. In the mondo power race the 300 gets left behind. While the Supra can lay down some serious power the chevy small block can make more power. Especially when boosted. It dosen't matter how you cut it, boost is not a replacement for displacement merely a substitute. A 2JZ running on 20+psi of boost will make a lot of power, but a V8 running the same amount of boost will make even more with torque numbers to match. The big arguement of import VS domestic V8s always pits boosted imports agianst NA V8s not exactly an apples to apples comparison. More like apples to pears. Similar, but not quite the same. Lets face it torque is really the important number. HP figures can be inflated by playing with the math. The torque curve is where its really at. The larger V8 is at a disadvantege in the redline department though. The 2jz can make about 1500 to 2000 more reves safely. The vette and Supra are close competitors. Its just a matter of personal taste I supose. Either one would be a pain to live with on the street in high horse trim. The vette would want to melt the tires every time you touch the gass with all its low end torque, and you have to rev the Supra in to the upper RPM range before you begin to see any power. Drive all the cars you can and pick what you like. After all it is your car. Get what you want, not what others tell you is cool.
