Keyless Entry (system Replacement)

Hi everyone,

I have a 99 Grand Am SE 4 dr. w/ a 2.4L and auto. THe car came originally equipped with keyless entry but it has been damaged. I am going to buy a new OEM keyless entry system to install on my car but I was wondering if the new remotes that will come with the system still needs the dealer (OR A TECH2) to program them for me or is it already synchronized?

Thanks,
Luke

Re: Keyless Entry (system Replacement)

Try looking at the thread at the top of the Grand Am Forum page on "Programming remotes 97 to 04" the info you're looking for maybe there.

Re: Keyless Entry (system Replacement)

Unless you're buying from the scrap yard, it would be MUCH cheaper to go with an alarm or remote starter and have the techs wire up the power locks and trunk that way. Unless you're one of those people that absolutely much have priority door unlock, you won't notice any loss of features compared to the factory remotes. They can even wire up panic mode.
