Neon Inquires (my apologies, this is quite lengthy)

I havent had my neon for very long however since its been given to me because its been in the family for so long its been through 2 sisters after i wrecked my precious 94 eclipse turbo it was given to me. I must say for a well dont get me wrong but for a weenie lil car ie sohc motor, 3spd auto =( its pretty tough. Any way, after spending $700 replacing the factory shocks/struts after i dunno about 8+ years which was a GREAT investment (rolls eyes) because i dont know about anyone else but i sure know mine bottoms out on every crack in the road still not as bad now but still this car is just ridiculous. I got a big friend and i swear i cant drive too far in this state with out bottoming out any where.

Any way besides that, im just curious to know from anyone elses standpoint if a 95 neon in fair condtn is really worth fixing up a bit to make it better than stock. Im going to have it for a while because my main goal after wti will be a 1g turbo awd dsm. Its not bad, everything works even after having a system for over a year which surprises me. Besides my dsm ive never had a car even last 6months with out it falling apart from a systems abuse.

I want to do a lot with it, but sometimes i get to thinking its just not worth it. Id like to get rid of the gay a$$ manual EVERYTHING, and get some power windows, door locks and mirrors...dunno how cost effective that is...of if its even worth it.

But my biggest prob with the car is not the ride quality but the 3 spd auto. This mainly comming from a 5spd manual just sickens me for hwy use. Are there any transmission swaps that would fit or anything of that nature to somehow get rid of the crummy 3spd and get something better?

Another thing is i have a pretty nice system in my car, i got an alpine headunit cdm 9823, with audiobahn components in the front, tweeters in dash, 6 1/2 subs (midrange) in doors and some hefty audiobahn 6X9s in the rear deck. After having my 2 10s yes...audiobahns for over a year now they made my rear window loose, i have to mention that my friend and i over did it with the dynamat in the trunk but as we all know that only quiets or muffels vibration it does not stop vibrations =) Any way another question would be is it worth tryin to build a custom box say like something seen on "Overhaulin" where the subs are completely cut off but seen from the trunk and ported through the rear deck?

Theres a lot more i have in my mind but i think ive pretty much bored anyone who reads this from now until they die, sorry....just a mitsu/mopar gear head wanting to make something so insignificant stand out and better than it can be, its got a lot of potential, neons do look good i think the 2door neons are pretty bad ass lookin but since im split between the fact that i have a 4 door and my want of a 1g dsm im just wondering if its really worth effort. I apologize for the length of this!

ehhh i have a 95 base neon as well i say go for it
this spring im gonna be doing a trans mission swap for a manual too all you have too do is find a manual neon and take parts from it and drop them into yours its a big task but its worth it

the best way i see you doing all this is find a junked/ wrecked and just take the parts you ewant out of it.... it shouldnt be that hard neons are everywhere
